Class Description:

A native of Croatia, Franka moved to the California in the late 1990s and fell in love with the landscapes after a backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada. The magnificence of Yosemite and California landscapes inspired her to become a landscape photographer.

Franka will give a presentation that analyzes several essential components that contribute in capturing essence, depicting mood, and creating emotional impact with landscape photographs, such as choice of light, color, contrast, weather, and/or shutter speed exposure.   “In order to resonate with the viewer a successful photograph needs to tell a story. Also, in order to connect with a viewer, a photograph needs to create emotional impact. It is not enough to just correctly expose and compose,” explained Gabler.

Franka is a Yosemite Photographer and friend of James Corwin Johnson. She was a big hit with the group when James led a trip to Yosemite in 2019. She was able to photograph with the group on location and gave a private tour of her studio gallery.
